Four lawyers from Womble Bond Dickinson have been named in the 2026 Pro Bono Recognition List of England and Wales, recognising their commitment to providing free legal support to those who need it most.
The annual list highlights solicitors and barristers who have dedicated at least 25 hours to pro bono legal work over the past year, celebrating individuals who go above and beyond to support their communities and improve access to justice.
Established under the sponsorship of the Attorney General’s Pro Bono Committee, and endorsed by the Lady Chief Justice, the Recognition List is supported by the Law Society, Bar Council and leading pro bono legal organisations across the profession. It shines a spotlight on the impact that lawyers at firms and organisations of all sizes can make through pro bono work.
The lawyers recognised from Womble Bond Dickinson are:
- Caroline Churchill, Partner
- David Wathen, Managing Associate
- Kate Eyres, Associate
- Nazmin Akthar, Managing Associate
Additionally, three more WBD lawyers – Rosie Gollan (Managing Associate), Eby Abraha, and Adeeba Sheeraz (Solicitor Apprentices) – each completed over 25 hours of pro bono work during the calendar year.
The recognition follows another year of wide-ranging pro bono activity across the firm, including support for Southampton-based charities City Reach and Northam Community Link, which came together to form a new charity to help ensure the continuation of vital local services.
Sally Dallow, Partner Lead for Responsible Business at Womble Bond Dickinson, said:
“Pro bono work is central to how we operate as a firm and to our wider commitment to being a responsible and inclusive business. It also brings to life in actions our commitment as a UN Global Compact signatory to support the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and SDG 16 in particular with its focus on equal access to justice. Our lawyers are deeply invested in using their expertise to support individuals and communities who might otherwise be unable to access legal advice. This recognition reflects the time, care and professionalism they bring to that work, and we are incredibly proud of them.”
