Colleagues from Womble Bond Dickinson and long-standing client Enterprise Mobility recently came together for a joint volunteering day to support a local environmental project in Surrey.
On 23 June, volunteers from both organisations spent the day removing Himalayan balsam from riverbanks in Egham, close to Enterprise Mobility's European headquarters. Himalayan balsam is a non-native invasive species that spreads rapidly and can outcompete native plants, damaging local ecosystems and increasing the risk of riverbank erosion. Removing the plants before they seed helps protect biodiversity and improve the long-term health of local habitats.
The team worked in challenging summer temperatures at a woodland site alongside the River Bourne, an area managed by The Cabrera Trust in partnership with Runnymede Borough Council. The site supports a rich variety of wildlife, with more than 250 plant species and 57 bird species recorded there.
The volunteering day reflected the shared commitment of both Enterprise Mobility and Womble Bond Dickinson to supporting the communities in which we live and work.
Participants from Womble Bond Dickinson included Luke Andruszewski, Paula Bartlett, Ashley Borthwick, Emma Cunningham-Burley, Dan Fawcett, Jenny Gibbs, Jessica James, Rachel Jones, Andrew Kimble, Sian Phillips and Cole Stacey, alongside UK Managing Partner Paul Stewart. Chris Jones and Patrick Strubbe, members of Womble's US Governing Board, also travelled to take part in the event.
Enterprise Mobility volunteers included Mike Andrew, Jeff Cowan, Nadim Kazi, Jay Golder, Sarah Payne, Debbie Sluys, Ollie Morgan, Sam Constance, Katrin Harder, Candice Turner, James Coleman, Ana Guerrero and Ellie Mason.
