Womble Bond Dickinson's Leeds office has completed the agreements for a £34m community stadium and leisure project for City of York Council.
The project involves the design, construction and operation of a new 8,000 seat community sports stadium, hub and leisure centre; and the operation of the Energise leisure centre and Yearsley swimming pool.
The stadium, which is due to open in 2019, will provide a new home for York City FC and York City Knights RLFC. It will also include a community hub consisting of a library, NHS specialist outpatient services, and a retail unit and office space for local charity York Against Cancer. The stadium, hub and leisure centre will be built alongside an associated commercial development including an IMAX cinema and a number of retail and restaurant units.
The deal was led by Partners Jackie Gray and Iain Greenshields from the Womble Bond Dickinson Projects & Procurement Team. The core project team also consisted of Ian Ward, Andrew Hirst, and Nicholas Moss, from the Projects and Procurement Team; and Vicky McCombe, Sarah Wales and Laura Howell, from the Construction Team.
