A planning & infrastructure solicitor from international law firm Womble Bond Dickinson (WBD) has been recognised for his commitment to not only high quality client support, but supporting the Plymouth legal community.

Adam Richards has been named Plymouth Law Society’s Junior Lawyer of the Year, which recognises the exceptional contribution of Plymouth's young legal professionals who go above and beyond in their roles within their organisations and also in the wider community.

Adam, who joined the firm's planning & infrastructure team in September 2022 after training and qualifying with the firm, was spotlighted for not only his legal skills, professionalism, and commitment to personal growth, but his tireless work as an ambassador for the legal profession in the South West.

In particular, it was his work leading on the revitalisation of the Plymouth Junior Lawyer's Division (PJLD) following the pandemic which was highlighted, helping reinvigorate the organisation alongside a small team of young lawyers across the city.

He said:

“I am honoured to receive this award and am still pinching myself at achieving this incredible honour. It is vitally important that not just legal professionals but other professionals from across the city come together and support one and other and it's been a fantastic experience working with a dedicated team to help transform the PJLD following the pandemic."

"Having also spoken to the 30 under 30's as an inspirational speaker, I am beyond thankful to all those who nominated me and hope to continue building, growing, and connecting with fellow dedicated lawyers across the region."

Craig Moore, partner and head of WBD's Plymouth office, said:

“Adam is an exceptionally talented and driven young lawyer and we are absolutely thrilled to see him recognised in this manner. His contribution to the firm and the community is remarkable, and this award speaks volumes not only about his legal acumen but also his passion and dedication for the profession."

Adam most recently has contributed to the firm's Planning Unplugged podcast, hosting an episode discussing all aspects of how water flows into the national planning system and what changes could be brought by the new Labour government.

Legal director Sarah Holmes, who helped nominate Adam for the accolade, said:

"Adam is a very special junior lawyer, role model and human whose professional achievements, community spirit, personal growth and exciting potential have been forged in the face of challenges and tough times."
