Womble Bond Dickinson (WBD) has advised Lomond, a longstanding client of the firm, on its acquisition of leading Scottish lettings and estate agency Clyde Property Group, including Burgh Property and Cathedral Estates.
Founded in 1987 and led by co-founder Gary Thomson, Clyde is a well-established, owner-led sales and lettings agency with a strong reputation for national market knowledge and an innovative, digital-first approach. Its people-first culture has helped build long-standing client relationships and a loyal, experienced team.
The acquisition supports Lomond’s growth strategy, expanding its footprint with another market-leading brand alongside the highly respected Scottish brand, DJ Alexander. Going forward, Clyde Property will oversee operations in the West of Scotland, while DJ Alexander will manage operations across the remainder of the portfolio.
The deal underlines WBD’s corporate expertise, drawing on integrated teams across the UK to deliver seamless advice.
The WBD team advising Lomond was led by corporate partner David Ridley, supported by associate Hannah Severgnini and solicitor Sarah Johnston. The team drew on WBD’s full service and multi-disciplinary expertise across the UK.
The firm is a consistent advisor on acquisitions for Lomond, supporting them on their first foray into the London market with the acquisition of Chase Evans in 2024, the purchase of Kinleigh Folkard & Hayward (KFH) and the recent acquisition of Prospect, an independent lettings and estate agency operating across Berkshire, Surrey, and Hampshire.
David Ridley, corporate partner at Womble Bond Dickinson, said:
“We are delighted to have advised Lomond on this strategic acquisition, which further strengthens its presence in Scotland. This transaction highlights the strength of our integrated team and our ability to deliver clear, commercially focused advice across a number of practices to support Lomond's continued growth.”
David Alexander, Chief Revenue Officer at Lomond, stated:
“Clyde’s passion for pioneering service and building knowledgeable local teams perfectly aligns with Lomond’s core values. This partnership offers an exciting opportunity to expand our presence across Scotland, and we are grateful for the support of David and the Womble Bond Dickinson team, whose pragmatic advice and commercial approach helped us deliver this acquisition. I’m delighted to welcome Clyde’s talented team and valued clients.”
