International law firm Womble Bond Dickinson (WBD) has announced its new charity partners across the UK.
The firm will partner with eight charities that focus on social inclusion and environmental protection, aligning with the firm's themes for charitable giving. The charities were chosen by WBD's regional offices, who will lead local activities supported by the WBD Foundation, the firm's charity. In each office there is an intentional focus on partnering with a single smaller charity to ensure that the support provided makes a more meaningful difference.
WBD's Bristol, Edinburgh, London, Newcastle, Plymouth and Teesside offices have selected new charity partners while Leeds and Southampton will continue to work with the charities they supported during the last financial year:
- In Bristol, the team will be working with Marmalade Trust, a charity dedicated to raising awareness of loneliness and helping people make new friendships and connections.
- The Edinburgh office has chosen to support The House of Hope, Scotland’s first dedicated breast cancer wellbeing and support centre that will make a difference to the thousands of people diagnosed every year.
- WBD's London office will be supporting Link Age Southwark, a charity providing support to over 800 older people in Southwark who are feeling lonely or isolated.
- The Newcastle team will be supporting Love, Amelia, a baby bank charity providing new and preloved items and equipment to children from birth to 16 years old who are experiencing hardship or poverty across the North of England.
- In Plymouth, the team has chosen to support the Keep Me Close Fund, part of the Plymouth Hospitals Charity, that supports the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth.
- In Teesside, the team will be working with EVA Women's Aid, a women only organisation providing support to women and children who have been affected by sexual violence and/or domestic abuse.
- The Leeds office will continue to work with Children’s Heart Surgery Fund to support the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit as a world-class centre of excellence – by providing the funding and resources needed to care for patients' heart, mind, family and future.
- And in Southampton, the office will continue to support Abby's Heroes, a charity supporting children, teenagers, young adults and their families when diagnosed with cancer.
During the last financial year, staff across the firm have given their time to volunteer and to undertake pro bono work in support of various charities, including those outside the Charity Partnership programme, as well as coordinating donations of a wide range of items such as iPhones, laptops, computers, sleeping bags, books, and toys, delivering positive impact across our communities. In addition, the WBD Foundation launched a new grant funding scheme open to any charity whose purpose falls within the firm's charitable giving themes.
Sally Dallow, Chair of the WBD Foundation and Partner Lead for Responsible Business says: “Our commitment to our communities goes beyond words – it’s about creating lasting impact in the places where we live and work. Through strong partnerships and collaboration, we can drive positive change. We’re proud to support our charity partners by fundraising, sharing our knowledge, delivering high-impact volunteering initiatives, and championing the valuable work they do across our communities.”
