This month, Womble Bond Dickinson (WBD) hosted the first career insight day in partnership with charity BelEve. A landmark event dedicated to providing invaluable career advice and fostering professional growth in young Black and Brown women from diverse backgrounds.

The event featured a series of engaging sessions with female staff from across the organisation who shared their career journeys, challenges, and offered practical advice. The event also included hands-on workshops designed to equip attendees with essential skills for their future careers.
In addition, panel discussions provided industry-specific insights and trends, with networking sessions also giving participants the opportunity to connect with lawyers across the organisation and expand their professional networks.
The event was organised by members of WBD Reach (race, ethnicity and cultural heritage) - the firm's ethnicity network - including partner Nathalie Romain, associate paralegal Wilnelia De Jesus, and trainee solicitor Jasleen Sohal alongside BelEve, a charity which aims to equip girls and young women with the skills, support and confidence to make informed choices about their future.
Nathalie Romain, partner and former co-chair of the WBD Reach steering group at Womble Bond Dickinson, commented:
"Hosting our first career insight day in partnership with BelEve is an incredibly important milestone for us. As an organisation we know that we have an important role to play in inspiring the next generation and in championing diversity across our industry. That's why we not only wanted to provide practical tools and knowledge but also connect young women with relatable role models who could mentor and inspire them. This event is a testament to our commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion at WBD, a team effort across both our REACH and Thrive networks which are dedicated to improving BAME representation and supporting women at all levels and in all areas of our business.”
Chyloe Powell, co founder and CFO at BelEve, added:
“Our mission as a charity is to empower young women to achieve their potential, and partnering with WBD for an event like this helps us to achieve that. Together, we can provide the tools, support, and inspiration they need to succeed in their careers. The insight day was a huge success – attendees loved getting an insider's view into the life of a solicitor and found the insights inspiring. It was great to see their enthusiasm and how much they gained from the experience.”
