Lawyers from Womble Bond Dickinson's (WBD) chemical sector team have taken part in a programme reporting on the importance of the multi-billion pound chemical industry and the significant impact the sector has on our day to day lives, economic progress, UK operations and the future for the next generation.
The Chemical Industries Association (CIA) has partnered with ITN Productions to launch ‘Solutions for our Future,’ a news and current affairs-style programme which explores the vital role of the chemical industry on tomorrow’s world.
WBD's experts in the chemicals sector shared insight into the challenges faced by those operating in this area and the opportunities available for businesses that are investing in their operations in the UK in a sustainable and responsible way.
Introduced by national newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky, ‘Solutions for our Future’ invites commentary from those at the forefront of breakthroughs to discuss the far-reaching applications of the chemical industry on future global issues such as sustainable energy, food production, managing our environment and promoting human and environmental health.
Underlining the importance of investment in innovation, trade and research, ‘Solutions for our Future’ also showcases significant developments in best practice, innovation, research, industry safety, careers and education and highlights the important role the CIA plays in supporting the success of the sector in the UK.
Stephen Elliot, Chief Executive, CIA commented:
“Solutions for our Future shows real, on the ground examples of how our sector is working to deliver benefits for all of society. Our film showcases strong examples of chemical companies and their workforces, alongside organisations that we work with that are providing answers to the great challenges we all face.”
Peter Snaith, Partner at WBD, commented:
"Chemical companies share complex supply chains, operate capital intensive plant and equipment in high hazard environments and are subject to an ever-increasing regulatory burden. Our lawyers use the experience and insight we've built up over many years to ensure that the chemical companies we work with can get on with growing their businesses and making a strong contribution to the UK and global economies."
Solutions for our Future combines a series of authoritative interviews, reports, case studies and sponsored profiles from leading organisations who are driving change, improving standards and innovating within the sector. WBD is one of the businesses that took part alongside:
- CF Fertilisers
- Dow Chemical Company
- Fenton Packaging

- Lucite International
- RAS Ltd
- Robinson Brothers Limited
- University of Oxford
- The World Plastics Council.
