Law firm Womble Bond Dickinson (WBD) has advised a longstanding client and private landowner on the sale of a large plot of land in Gillingham, Dorset, to UK housebuilder Redrow Homes Southern Counties. The sale is believed to be the largest land transaction completed in Dorset for many years.

The land will be developed into a 143-acre housing scheme comprising of around 1,000 homes, including affordable housing, and will also include public open spaces and a local centre with the potential to provide a mix of retail, community, health and leisure amenities.

The transaction was led by WBD's private client team with managing associate Kayleigh Harrison-Dunford and senior counsel Robert Drewett advising on real estate and commercial issues.

Kayleigh commented:

“We've completed many transactions in recent months with major housebuilders grasping opportunities to invest in prime development land to create vibrant new communities across the South West. It has been a pleasure to once again be involved in such project, leveraging our local knowledge and legal expertise to ensure a smooth completion for our clients."
