Following the success of the 2016 Great North Snowdog trail, with Womble Bond Dickinson (WBD) raising over £20,000, the firm is proud to continue its support for St Oswald's Hospice by being an early supporter of this year's Elmer’s Great North Parade.

St Oswald's Hospice provides specialist care for North East adults, young people and children with incurable conditions with a target to raise £7.5m every year. In 2016, The Great North Snowdogs trail had dozens of sculptures from the animated film The Snowman and the Snowdog scattered across the North East which made up a free public art trail.

Elmer's Great North Parade will feature over 70 individually designed elephants based on the much loved children's character, Elmer the Patchwork Elephant, at numerous locations across the North East. The public will be able to track down the Elmers for ten weeks from August to October. As part of their support, WBD is organising a quiz to be held at The Biscuit Factory in October to raise valuable funds for the Hospice.

Kevin Robertson, Partner and Head of Newcastle Office, comments:

"Following the huge success of the Great North Snowdogs, I am delighted that we are able to support the Hospice once again this time with Elmer’s Great North Parade. The quiz we helped to organise in 2016 was a great success and we are really looking forward to hosting this year's event with the support of our clients and friends in the North East business community. The ten week long programme will boost our region's creative and artistic talent whilst showcasing the North East on the national stage."

Jane Hogan, Elmer’s Great North Parade Project Lead at St Oswald’s Hospice, said:

“St Oswald’s Hospice is delighted to once again receive the support of Womble Bond Dickinson as a sculpture sponsor for Elmer’s Great North Parade, they were a fantastic sponsor to work alongside throughout the Snowdogs public art trail in 2016. We expect this year’s trail to be even bigger and better, presenting an amazing opportunity for local businesses to get involved and we welcome them onboard.”

Ranking in the top 20 law firms and with its largest office in Newcastle, WBD provide legal expertise in eleven key sectors from across eight offices in the UK and 19 offices in the US.
