Womble Bond Dickinson has donated a large collection of law books to the Republic of Guyana on South America's North Atlantic coast.

The call for donations came from Hon. Chief Justice Yonette Cummings Edwards, Guyana's Chancellor of the Judiciary, who since her appointment has set out plans to refurbish the court rooms and accepted donations from law firms across the world.

Womble Bond Dickinson's Library & Information Services and CSR teams coordinated the donation of over 110 boxes of law books. Donations from other firms in the UK were also made and over 830 boxes, weighing 30 tonnes, were shipped to Guyana in a 40 High Cube container.

Asmah Baig, Community Relations Programme Manager at Womble Bond Dickinson, said: "As lawyers we recognise that our CSR offering is not only about charity fundraising, but also about sharing our skills and our knowledge and easing access to justice, for everyone wherever they may be. We're delighted to have been able to support Guyana's Chancellor of the Judiciary, knowing that our donated books will be made good use of. It was also good to see the response from the legal community with so many donations pouring through."
