WBD has appointed Bob Savic as a Tax Consultant in the firm's London office. Bob will support the firm's key sectors of expertise, in particular, Energy & Natural Resources, Financial Institutions, Manufacturing and Private Wealth.

Bob has a longstanding and successful track record of advising on the cross-border aspects of both Corporate Taxation for international companies and UK Resident & Non-Domicile "res non-dom" tax matters for globally-mobile High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs).

He has spent over 20 years of his career mainly with some of the world's largest international accounting firms in various jurisdictions across the globe including China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Canada, Australia, Russia and Central Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, as well as the UK.

He joins WBD after several years with an international multi-family office where he advised on individual tax matters for wealthy families and on cross-border corporate taxation in relation to their global business interests.

Bob's corporate tax work is focused on complex cross-border tax structuring involving multiple jurisdictions from a corporate investor's home state, to intermediary jurisdictions, where relevant, and the host state of the investment. In this capacity, Bob has worked in a diverse range of sectors including commercial and industrial real estate, manufacturing, technology, infrastructure and logistics, energy and natural resources, among others.

Much of the nature of his tax work involved M&A, corporate divestments, de-mergers, and reorganisations, in addition to advising on greenfield manufacturing investments in various countries' enterprise zones and business parks.  He has also worked on numerous cross-border tax projects involving transfer pricing, compliance with the anti-avoidance provisions of controlled foreign corporations legislation, and issues surrounding the migration of corporate residence. In particular, he has emphasized best practice in applying key international tax standards arising from global and regional institutions including the OECD and the European Union, respectively.

Jonathan Blair, WBD's UK Managing Partner and Head of the London office, said:

"We're delighted to welcome Bob to our growing London practice. His knowledge in tax law as well as his experience across many jurisdictions will strengthen our offering in some of our key sectors and his specialism will provide added value to our clients."

Bob added:

"WBD has an impressive client portfolio across a large number of sectors which brings many opportunities to work on very exciting projects. I look forward to working with the team here in London, nationally and in the US."

Bob's appointment follows a wider recruitment drive particularly in WBD's London office which saw seven new partners joining the insurance (Tim Barr, Simon Beckwith and Mark Ratcliff), immigration (Andrew Tingley), banking (Matthew Williams), data protection (Mark Gleeson) and finance (Jonny Williams) teams in the past couple of months.

Ranking in the UK's top 20 law firms, WBD provides legal expertise across a range of sectors including Financial Institutions, Insurance, Public & Government Services, Energy & Natural Resources, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Real Estate, Retail & Consumer, Transport, Logistics & Infrastructure, Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology & Life Sciences, Technology and Private Wealth.
