International law firm Womble Bond Dickinson (WBD) has advised a leading estate and letting agency on its continued growth and breakthrough into the region of Kent.
The firm has advised Lomond on the purchase of Miles & Barr, the market leader agency in Kent, with more than 2,400 properties under management and stretching across 13 towns in the county.
The acquisition will see the well-established brand operate as the flagship for Lomond in the region with room to continue growth in its lettings business.
A WBD team led by partner Simon Pilling and managing associate David Ridley advised Lomond on the deal, with additional support from managing associate Catherine Willis, associate Kate Eyres, and solicitors Alex Dolling and Bede Finnigan on corporate matters. This core team was supported with a large team of multi-disciplinary specialists across the firm's eight UK offices.
The acquisition is the latest in the organisation's portfolio, which now manages more than 47,500 properties stretching across the UK.
WBD has been a consistent advisor on a number of these acquisitions, most recently advising the organisation on the purchase of Chase Evans and Charters to help Lomond break through into London's property market and further their reach in the south and south west of England respectively.
David Ridley said:
"This acquisition is another key piece of Lomond's expansion plans and our team is proud to have continued to support Lomond through their growth journey to complete the acquisition of Miles & Barr.
"As with many of Lomond's acquisitions, it was important to consider Lomond's market needs and commercial aims to ensure that this deal was to the benefit of all parties. It's been a privilege to continue working with the team as they drive forward their ambitious growth strategy."
Ed Phillips, CEO of Lomond, said:
"We’ve set our sights on a number of new regions so far this year and this has all been part of our growth strategy, as we look to further establish Lomond and its brands as the leading estate and lettings agency business in the country.
"The significant opportunity across a number of key towns in Kent is evident and with Miles & Barr, there’s no doubt in my mind that we’re putting our best foot forward as the shared values and cultures of both businesses are clear to see.
"Simon, David and their team at WBD have been integral in getting this transaction over the line, with their comprehensive knowledge and advice helping us continue our aim of establishing Lomond and its brands as a true market leader."
