The National Security and Investment Act 2021 came into force on 4 January 2022 creating a new, stand-alone statutory regime for government scrutiny of, and intervention in, transactions for the purposes of protecting national security. The new regime consists of a mandatory notification regime and a government call-in power, accompanied by a voluntary notification regime.
