A transatlantic team of lawyers will represent Womble Bond Dickinson (WBD) at the Third Annual US Offshore Wind Conference & Exhibition, the largest annual event in the US offshore wind industry.
UK attorneys Sebastian Briggs and Chris Towner and Joe Tirone and Belton Zeigler from the US will represent the firm at this year’s conference. Tirone, Towner, and Zeigler all are co-leaders of the firm’s Energy and Natural Resources sector team.
The US Offshore Wind Conference & Exhibition takes place 7-8 June in Boston. Topics on this year’s agenda will include:
- Update on the US offshore wind development pipeline
- Project planning and execution for commercial deployment
- Supply chain, infrastructure, and vessel capacities
- Cost reduction technology roadmap
- Commercializing floating wind turbines
- Opportunities for oil and gas in the US offshore wind supply chain.
This year’s speakers will include Walter Cruickshank, Acting Director of the US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management; Deepwater Wind Chairman of the Board Bryan Martin; Thomas Brostrøm, President, Ørsted North America; and John Lavelle, CEO, Offshore Wind for GE Renewable Energy.
Sebastian Briggs has been active in the renewable energy sector for more than 15 years and much of his practice is focused on strategy and the development, acquisition, and financing of assets. He has acted on transactions for the sale, purchase, financing or investment in more than 60 renewable energy projects with a combined capacity in excess of 5GW, including RWE Npower’s groundbreaking Zephyr transaction.
Joe Tirone is the co-leader of WBD’s Energy & Natural Resources sector. His practice focuses on energy project and infrastructure development, mergers and acquisitions and project finance. He has represented energy sector companies in structuring, negotiating and drafting a range of complex contracts and agreements. Tirone advises various stakeholders in a broad range of issues in the renewable generation sector, including developers, equity participants, equipment providers, and financing parties. His experience includes working as in-house counsel for an independent power producer in connection with the development, construction, and finance of power generation facilities.
Chris Towner chairs the RenewableUK offshore wind delivery group. He focuses his practice on advising renewable energy projects. Towner has also worked with a broad group of investment banks and public sector clients in relation to a wide range of issues connected with the UK electricity and gas markets.
Belton Zeigler provides clients with solutions to complex energy, utility, environmental and cybersecurity matters based on more than 30 years of energy industry experience. He has served as general counsel to a major electric and natural gas utility, where he also had managerial responsibility for industrial customer relations, power marketing, and strategic planning.
