Womble Bond Dickinson (WBD) and The City of London are both supporting the inaugural Mayflower 400 Business Networking Event, taking place at Guildhall this week on Thursday 18 October.
The event, which commemorates the 400th anniversary, in 2020, of the Mayflower’s historic sailing to America from Plymouth, brings together a host of key business leaders to discuss the commercial impact of the Mayflower's anniversary and the business opportunities that it presents for London, the UK and beyond.
The event welcomes representatives from the US and Dutch Embassies to the UK, business leaders from major transatlantic corporations, including WBD, Members of Parliament and of the House of Lords, to deepen the engagement with the City of London’s leaders and other key city organisations and stimulate consideration of the various opportunities and business potential that the Mayflower anniversary provides.
The Mayflower 400 commemoration programme in 2020 will comprise over 400 events that will span four Nations – Britain, US, Netherlands and Wampanoag – and is anticipated to yield a significant £440m impact on the business turnover across the UK Mayflower Compact destinations. Business leaders are gathering now to explore how business might further work with the anniversary for transatlantic opportunities.
