Womble Bond Dickinson Associate Nazmin Akthar has been shortlisted at the 2022 Rising Star Awards.

Nazmin is part of the residential team in Newcastle and specialises in residential development, estate management and general infrastructure, acting for a range of clients including national and regional housebuilders; private rented sector investors; and housing associations.

A firm believer that high quality housing and sustainable infrastructure are key to the promotion of good health and equality and eradication of poverty and abuse, Nazmin aims to contribute to the delivery of safe, secure, affordable and fit-for-purpose housing and communities, and regularly promotes the importance of housing for victims of abuse.

Outside of her role at WBD, Nazmin is the Co-Chair of Muslim Women’s Network UK (MWNUK), and recently co-founded Nisa Global Foundation, an international charity set up to support the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals globally.

Tom Willows, Partner at Womble Bond Dickinson, commented:

"It is fantastic to see Nazmin nominated for a Rising Star Award. It is great recognition for her work not only here at WBD, but for the contributions she makes to promoting equality and social justice, and supporting diversity in professions outside of work.”

Now in their eighth year, the Rising Star Awards are the first to focus on the achievements of women below Senior Management or Director level – representing the female talent pipeline and the next generation of future leaders.
