More than 130 people were puzzling for glory and a good cause as international law firm Womble Bond Dickinson (WBD) hosted a trivia night at Gloucestershire Cricket Club with funds raised for a Bristol-based charity.

Organised by the firm's Private Wealth team, the quiz night raised funds for WBD's Bristol office charity partner Alive Activities, an organisation which is dedicated to improving quality of life for older people and their carers.

Teams were quizzed on famous faces, major headlines and general knowledge, with a total of £3,250 raised on the night for the charity.

Mike Haynes, Trust Manager in WBD's Private Wealth team, said:

"It was a great pleasure to support our office partner Alive Activities through our team's quiz night and raise funds for a great cause while also bringing together many of our wider community.

We hope those in attendance had an excellent time and learnt a lot on the evening, and we look forward to our continued support of organisations such as Alive which are making a major impact within Bristol and the wider region."

The quiz night is the latest in a stream of support for the charity over previous months, with members of the Bristol office raising funds through an internal bingo night and a book fair, while also providing in-person volunteer support on the organisations garden allotments in the city.

Alive Activities, which provides provide community activity and support through its meeting centres and community gardening projects alongside innovative community and care home projects bringing art, sport, IT, gardening and intergenerational connections to older people, has been the office's charity partner since 2023.

The organisation also promotes dementia awareness and recently worked with the England football team to film players wearing an empathy suit

Isobel Jones, CEO from Alive Activities, said:

"We would like to thank Womble Bond Dickinson's Bristol office for their continued support this year. With their help, we’ve been able to continue to run our much needed services for people living with dementia such as our meeting centres and dementia gardens and allotments.

We’ve also been able to develop new ideas and projects – such as our share and repair intergenerational café and our dementia empathy suit training. Their support this year has been vital and we are so grateful."
