Until now, they have often found themselves involved in overcomplicated and time consuming negotiations to document simple payments from landlords after agreeing to carry out works to the space they are taking. It is usually more practical for tenants to do this, particularly if they have their own fit out contractors on site or want to retain control of costs and timings.

Ground rent claims against solicitors – the end of the road?

Following the release of the judgment in Frampton & Frampton v MLP Law Limited, Womble Bond Dickinson (UK) LLP has successfully defended a firm of solicitors in relation to a 2017 conveyance concerning the advice given to the Claimants in relation to ground rent provisions in a long leasehold property. The legal profession has long been fighting these claims and this judgment follows two recent judgments that reached similar conclusions on breach and loss (Snow v Bannister Preston Solicitors LLP (unreported) and Edwards v Howells Solicitors (unreported)). Tim Barr and Amaney Ehtash at WBD were acting for MLP Law and Jack Steer from 4 New Square was successful defence counsel.

New homes for refugees in Bristol to be created by flagship £2.5m public and private sector deal

Airport revival now boarding as WBD advises on lease agreement for Doncaster Sheffield Airport

It's one step closer to getting planes in the skies of Doncaster once more after international law firm Womble Bond Dickinson (WBD) helped advise the City's council on the agreement of a headlease for Doncaster Sheffield Airport.

A 125 year headlease has been completed by the City of Doncaster Council to take over the Airport site following over a year of discussions and negotiations with the existing landowner the Peel Group, with the Council intending to sub-let the Airport site to a new operator.
