​Lisa is an Associate in the regulatory team specialising predominantly in health and safety and environmental work. Since qualifying as a Solicitor in 2004 Lisa has advised many clients on compliance issues ad policies and procedures, including how to manage investigations following major incidents.

Lisa advises clients in both the private and public sector, including on formal investigations by the HSE, Police, Environment Agency and local authorities, including

  • Dealing with all aspects of a potential prosecution from the initial stages of an investigation through to representing clients at criminal courts, Inquests and tribunals.
  • Advising on policies, structures and governance so as to reduce the prospects of corporate and/or personal liability.
  • Advising on critical incident management

Lisa is a member of the Health and Safety Lawyers Association.

Experience

  • ​The Buncefield Oil Terminal explosion 11 December 2005 – advising on the investigation into the incident by the Competent Authority and acting on behalf of the Competent Authority in the successful prosecution of five companies arising from the explosion which resulted in multiple injuries, damage to commercial and residential property and widespread environmental pollution
  • R v Junttan Oy – a House of Lords case involving important issues on Section 6 HSWA 1974, the impact of European Directives/Regulations and the nature and extent of domestic powers of prosecution
  • Advising a Health Care Trust on three Inquests arising out of similar facts following absconsion from a secure unit
  • Acting for a Health Care Trust in relation to Court of Protection matters regarding deprivation of liberty safeguards.
  • Representing the HSE and at Inquest and then subsequently prosecuting a care home in relation to the death of a resident.
