Womble Bond Dickinson (WBD) has played a pivotal role in supporting the expansion of Teesside’s aviation sector, advising global aviation leader Willis Aviation Services Limited in securing a 250-year lease for 50 acres of land at Teesside International Airport.
This milestone agreement, which represents a significant inward investment for the region, will underpin a multi-million-pound project to expand aircraft maintenance operations at the airport. The initiative is anticipated to create hundreds of new jobs and fuel the development of up to six state-of-the-art narrow and wide-body hangars, including the establishment of five new facilities within a dedicated Aviation Village to the west of the airport estate.
The WBD team was led by real estate partner Mark Tait, with further support from partners Sarah Daun and Kevin Bell, and associate Conor Wells. Their combined expertise was instrumental in navigating the complex negotiations and ensuring a successful outcome for Willis Aviation.
Mark Tait commented:
“We are delighted to have advised Willis Aviation on this high-value transaction, which stands as a testament to the strength and growth potential of Teesside’s aviation industry. This inward investment will not only boost the airport’s capacity but also deliver significant economic benefits to the wider region, reinforcing Teesside’s reputation as a hub for innovation and enterprise.”
Womble Bond Dickinson has a long-standing presence in the North East and remains committed to supporting transformative projects that stimulate growth and prosperity across Teesside and the surrounding communities.
