A transatlantic team of lawyers from Womble Bond Dickinson’s (WBD) Energy and Natural Resources sector represented the firm at the renewableUK 2019 Global Offshore Wind conference.

WBD attendees at the conference and related events included included Anthony Alderman, Paul Bennett, Rosie Gaisford, Alex Hirom, Jenn Holgate, Luke Holmes, Rishi Kohli, Gareth Miles, Hannah Ryan, Vicki Redman, Anna Soroko and Josh Taylor. Joe Tirone and Belton Zeigler attended from WBD US.

Alex gave a presentation on how a gas to wire project will operate, what are the advantages and what challenges need to be overcome to help those projects come to market. Gas to wire projects are a genuine opportunity which would assist the UK in developing currently uneconomically viable reservoirs of gas.   

In addition, Belton on the rapidly growing scope of the US offshore wind market, information on current offshore wind projects, and a look ahead at future development. He also offered details on the US consenting structure (federal and state), as well as a state-by-state look at incentives for offshore wind development.

The 2019 Global Offshore Wind event took place 25-26 June in London. The event attracted offshore wind industry professionals from across the globe and featured political keynotes, expert panels, debates, procurement tenders, sector deal updates, disruptive innovation, business partnering, international pavilions, inward delegations and much more.

The night before the conference, Womble Bond Dickinson co-hosted a reception with the Business Network for Offshore Wind (BNOW) in the firm’s London office. More than 50 offshore wind industry professionals gathered for networking, drinks and hors d’oeuvres.
