Womble Bond Dickinson has been appointed to the legal panel for Homes England, the Government’s national housing agency.
The Womble Bond Dickinson team, led by real estate Partner Jonathan Bower, will work with Homes England's in-house legal team and officers, to advise on key legal issues which will assist in the delivery of Homes England's key priorities. The new, expanded agency will play a far bigger role in investing in supply and intervening in the market to help deliver 300,000 homes a year by the middle of the next decade, bringing together money, land, expertise and planning and compulsory purchase powers to accelerate the supply of new homes and address affordability issues in areas of highest demand.
Womble Bond Dickinson's appointment will run for two years, with an opportunity to extend by another two in 2020.
This appointment comes on the back of Womble Bond Dickinson's appointment to the Crown Commercial Services panel for all Central Government, providing a full-service of legal expertise across a range of disciplines, including real estate, general commercial, litigation and employment advice.
Jonathan Bower commented:
"We are delighted to have been reappointed to the Homes England panel. We look forward to working with Homes England to advise them on upcoming projects and help them deliver the Government's target of 300,000 new homes a year by the mid-2020s. This was a competitive tender process and we are delighted to have been appointed on the back of our strong legal expertise, real estate sector focus and credentials advising on real estate, finance and restructuring matters in both the public and private sector across the UK."
