The revised Payment Services Directive (PSD2) had a number of stated objectives, including to address security concerns that emerged alongside the growth in increasingly technologically sophisticated payment systems and practices. Its remit therefore included providing a clear legal framework to enable the establishment of an accessible common technological means for users of a payment service to provide consent that can be acted upon by a payment services provider.

FCA’s latest mission and business plan contain few surprises, but indicate a lot of work in diverse areas.

The Mission, which takes into account stakeholder views, seeks to explain to firms how and why FCA prioritises its focus to meet its statutory objectives. It stresses that it regulates to promote the public interest and with the aim of adding the most public value.

Money Laundering Regulations 2017: what do they mean for CDD?

Suddenly there is a sense of urgency around the UK's implementation of the fourth Money Laundering Directive (MLD4). Following Treasury's initial consultation on how to implement MLD4 in September 2016, it has now published the feedback to that consultation and the draft Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017 (the MLR 2017). Time is now running short, and the legislation must be in force by 26 June
