Experience
  • Manufacturing – advising on reinstatement of a commercially significant European chemical manufacturing facility damaged by fire. The project was worth hundreds of millions of Euros and involved Sam's secondment to work at the facility. Sam gained experience of drafting and negotiating an engineering services agreement, two EPCm contracts based on the IChemE Burgundy Book Second Edition 2013, a main building contract based on FIDIC Red Book First Edition 1999 and a number of supply contracts and ancillary documents which were either bespoke or based on foreign standard forms
  • Manufacturing – advising on two high value international engineering projects. The first was an European-based project for the decommissioning of a chemical manufacturing facility. The second was the rectification of a chemical manufacturing facility in Asia following defective works by previous contractor. With both projects, Sam drafted and assisted with negotiation of bespoke EPCm contracts and other bespoke ancillary documents
  • Real Estate – advising on multiple high value forward funding projects in the United Kingdom for a national property investor, involving the construction of private rental accommodation using schedule of amendments to JCT Design and Build 2016. With all projects, Sam drafted and assisted with negotiation of the relevant contractual documentation including building contracts, appointments, warranties and letters of reliance
  • Charities - advising a national charity involved in a series of nationwide development projects to revitalise and upgrade its care home and extra care facilities. Sam's work involved drafting and negotiation of bespoke documentation for the appointment of project management and design consultants, as well as the procurement of development partners/specialist contractors to build out the extra care facilities. Sam also assisted with the drafting and negotiation of a building contract in relation to one of the projects, based on the JCT Design and Build contract 2016.
