Martin heads the UK pensions law team. The team is one of the largest specialist pensions law teams in the country. Martin has over 20 years’ experience working for a wide range of company and pension scheme clients including a number of household name public companies and multinationals. His expertise spans the full range of pension related advice from interpretation of scheme rules and legislative compliance through to complex scheme or corporate sponsor restructuring and liability management projects.
He is a regular speaker at trustee training and other external seminars, whether covering topical developments or bespoke projects such as scheme merger or closure exercises and is an editor and co-author of Blackstone’s Guide to the Pensions Act 2004.
Martin is a member of the Association of Pension Lawyers and has sat on the trustee boards of a range of pension funds from single employer arrangements through to an industry wide scheme.

- A range of companies and schemes in the privatised utilities and other formerly nationalised industries in the UK (including electricity, water, rail, buses and ports), in relation to both industry wide and employer specific pension arrangements
- Procter & Gamble on the merger, integration and re-documentation of historic pension arrangements
- On contingent assets and guarantees for corporate and trustee clients in a range of sectors
