Emma specialises in commercial and contractual disputes. She has experience of Court of Appeal and High Court proceedings. Including proceedings in the Chancery Division, Queen's Bench Division, Commercial and Technology and Construction Court, as well as experience in alternative dispute resolution processes and mediation. Emma advises on a broad range of contract disputes including shareholder disputes and contentious procurement matters.

Emma has a commercial and pragmatic approach to advising clients and has spent time on secondment to Sainsbury's and a FTSE 100 business technology company.

Examples of experience include advising:

  • Acting for the administrators of Lehman Brothers International (Europe) on a number of claims by and against the insolvent estate, relating to complex financial products including financing transactions and derivative products
  • Acting for IBM in its long-running litigation relating to ceasing defined benefit accrual and the employer’s duty of good faith culminating in recent success in the Court of Appeal (IBM United Kingdom Holdings Limited and another v Dalgleish and others [2017] EWCA Civ 1212)
  • Acting for a transport company in relation to a potential challenge of the procurement process
  • Advising a retail client in relation to the enforceability of their terms and conditions
