*Dr. Mantilla is not licensed to practice law. His activities are directly supervised by members of the firm licensed to practice law.

As Science Advisor on the Intellectual Property team, Dr. Ed Mantilla uses his doctorate in chemistry and substantial experience in both chemistry and computer science to guide and support his clients. His experience includes due diligence, freedom to operate analyses, interference practice, PTAB proceedings, patent portfolio management and preparing and prosecuting patent applications relating to purification, analysis, chemistry, polymers, software and data mining. Ed also has experience in trademark prosecution and clearance, as well as copyright registration.

Prior to joining the firm, Ed worked as a Senior Patent Agent at Thermo Fisher Scientific where he was responsible for the patent portfolio of the software, ion exchange, and chemistry consumables teams. He also managed an industrial hygiene lab. Ed obtained his PhD from Seton Hall University.

Ed is currently a J.D. candidate and expects to graduate in 2020.
