Andrew de Holl focuses his practice on appellate and trial-level litigation in South Carolina state courts and in federal courts across the country. His broad experience includes construction disputes, building products liability, commercial disputes, civil rights, wrongful death, criminal law, insurance coverage, administrative appeals, and environmental matters. 

In addition to private practice, Andrew’s experience includes over a decade in government. He has served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Department of Justice, as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the Social Security Administration, and as a Staff Attorney for the United States District Court. He also was a law clerk for the Honorable Patrick Michael Duffy and the Honorable G. Ross Anderson, Jr., Senior United States District Judges, and for the Honorable John Cannon Few, Chief Judge of the South Carolina Court of Appeals. 

Andrew is active in his local community. He has served as an elder and deacon in his church, and he has supported the Charleston School of Law as an adjunct professor. He also fundraises for Make-A-Wish South Carolina.

  • Obtained reversal of convictions and fifty-year prison sentence based on admission of unsound expert testimony
  • Defended federal agency’s decision refusing to allow disturbance of environmentally sensitive public land
  • Won summary judgment for client in wrongful death action involving military base
  • Advised trial teams on issue preservation and other strategies for appeal
