Womble Bond Dickinson (WBD) has been named one of Europe’s most innovative law firms in the FT Innovative Lawyers: Europe 2026 report. By constantly evolving its innovation efforts, WBD has maintained its status among Europe's legal innovation elite in the face of an ever more competitive environment.
Produced by the Financial Times in partnership with research provider RSGI, the report recognises law firms and in-house legal teams that are leading change across the European legal sector. Its research assesses innovation in legal work and the business of law, including firms’ digital capabilities, people strategies and responsible business programmes.
Innovation is a key part of WBD’s strategy, with the firm investing in new technologies and ways of working to improve the delivery of legal services and create better outcomes for clients. This includes the responsible adoption of generative AI tools, alongside wider work to embed innovation across the business and support its people to work more effectively.
It also follows a strong period of recognition for WBD's innovation work. Alongside Thomson Reuters, the firm was recently named Trailblazer of the Year at the ILTA Distinguished Peer Awards for their collaboration on the early adoption and firmwide rollout of CoCounsel Legal and was declared Best Firm for Legal Technology by Legal Cheek.
Sam Dixon, Chief Innovation Officer and Partner at WBD, said:
“Being recognised by the Financial Times reflects the commitment of our people to finding smarter, more effective ways to deliver for our clients. We are continuing to invest in technology and new ways of working, with a clear focus on responsible innovation that delivers practical value for our clients and our business.”
