*William M. Hall is not licensed to practice law. His activities are directly supervised by members of the firm licensed to practice law in the firm’s Atlanta office.

William is a patent agent with more than 15 years of experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications before the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and in working with foreign associates to file and prosecute patent applications internationally. He works well both with inventors who have experience with the patent process and those who do not, providing an appropriate amount of guidance through the preparation and prosecution of their patent applications. He is able to work with inventors to gain a deep understanding of their inventions and prepare thorough patent applications.

A tenacious patent prosecutor, William works to overcome rejections by the USPTO by presenting arguments, amending the claims, and/or discussing directly with the patent examiner. He is experienced in effectively utilizing the appeals process to overcome rejections.

William has experience with clients in various industries, including mechanical devices, firearms, semiconductors, internal combustion engine components, medical devices, and chemical reactors. In addition, he prepares and prosecutes patent applications in the field of packaging, including packaging materials (e.g., materials that are more environmentally friendly and microwave energy interactive materials), packaging design (e.g., cartons, sleeves, pouches and other constructs), and machines and methods for forming packages and packaging materials.

  • Obtained a positive result on more than four appeals of rejections by the USPTO, wherein the patent examiner was convinced to withdraw the rejection or the Patent Trial and Appeal Board reversed the examiner at least in part.
