Simon qualified into the Construction and Engineering team in September 2019 after completing a training contract with the firm. 

Simon focuses on transactional construction matters and assists the team on a range of different construction transactions covering the energy, real estate, education, financial, public and transport sectors. 

Simon has assisted in drafting, negotiating and advising on a variety of construction documents including building contracts, appointments, collateral warranties, novation agreements and development agreements. Simon has also assisted with conducting due diligence on behalf of financial institutions in a number of high-value transactions. 

Simon previously worked for a major legal publisher where he developed specialisms in construction, environmental, public and data protection law.

Experience

Examples of experience include advising:

  • Drafting a contract for a mechanical maintenance based on the JCT form of contract on behalf of a higher education institution
  • Reviewing NEC contracts in relation to a variety of infrastructure projects on behalf of a public transport operator
  • Assisting in the review of the full suite of construction documents, including a development agreement, building contract, appointments and warranties on behalf of a local authority
  • Preparing the appointments and warranties for the professional consultants involved in the development of a car park, hotel and supermarket.
