Olivia joined the firm in September 2021 as a Level 3 CILEx Paralegal Apprentice, within the LSC, Recovery+ Team. After completing the apprenticeship in September 2023, she was promoted to Associate Paralegal.

Olivia's work is based in Commercial Disputes and Regulatory, focussing on debt recovery and insolvency matters in the Energy and Natural Resource sector, through her work for British Gas. Olivia also touches on Public and Government Services through her work in recovering licensing and regulatory fees on behalf of The Civil Aviation Authority, who oversee and regulate civil aviation, internationally.

Olivia has experience in the Property sector, dealing with the application and enforcement of legal charges / charging orders against properties, in favour of clients, in order to recover debts owing.

Olivia also provides supervision and ongoing support for other members of the Recovery+ Team, assisting in more technical advice to ensure that service standards and client expectations are met. She is also able to assist in finance transactions, property / company searches, and admin related matters.

British Gas Recoveries

Work includes thorough case reviews, establishing company / individual asset positions and insolvency status by conducting multiple searches. Olivia has a wealth of experience in drafting and engaging in frequent pre-action correspondence with debtors whilst calculating and drafting cost budgets in order to keep the client regularly updated. Client care is of upmost importance to Olivia.

Upon the conclusion of pre-action work, if re-payment arrangements / settlement cannot be reached, Olivia has experience in issuing claims against debtors and seeing matters through to trial stage. Olivia has dealt with preparing hearing bundles, witness statements and also dealing with defences and applications made by defendants. Olivia has experience in drafting N260 Statements of Cost in preparation for hearings, and can communicate as necessary with Counsel instructed.

Olivia also has experience in dealing with insolvent companies / individuals through drafting Winding Up Petitions and Bankruptcy Petitions as well as providing advice to clients in relation to taking carriage of petitions / supporting them.

Olivia has also dealt with many debt recovery cases under Scottish jurisdiction and has a good relationship with our Scottish colleagues who support and supervise that work,

Civil Aviation Authority

Work is very process driven and a fixed fee is applied, therefore, Olivia has built a great understanding of time effective work in this area.

The work includes sending LBCs, Final Reminders and engaging with debtor companies / individuals regarding a multitude of airline related debts such as aircraft licensing fees, unpaid government annual charges and airline passenger complains handling fees. In some instances the work has included dealing with sensitive, PR risk matters.

The work has also progressed to dealing with Winding-Up Petitions and advising the client in regard to the prospects of a recovery of the debt, should we issue a claim against debtors / companies.

AIG and Razorblue Group Limited

Olivia has dealt with some more ad-hoc debt recovery matters that have progressed from AIG insurance claims and the recover of fees for unpaid IT Services.
