Martin is a managing associate in the Real Estate team and acts for national and international property investors and developers, government, banks, and retailers.

He advises on acquisitions, management of investment portfolios and provides strategic advice on future disposals, overage, and sales conditional on planning and development. He also provides property support on business purchase transactions.

In the banking sector, Martin acts on finance transactions for international, FTSE 100 and commercial lenders, reporting on a range of commercial property, including industrial and development sites, data centres, sports venues, offices and retail units. 

Martin has experience in the telecoms sector, managing the property portfolio for an overseas telecoms landlord and overseeing the transactional team in relation to the portfolio. Martin was involved in the drafting of new lease precedents to take into account changes under the new code brought about by the Digital Economy Act 2017.

Examples of experience include advising:

  • a US multi-national bank who were funding the acquisition of data-centres worth $880,000,000.00 following a directive of the European Commission relating to antitrust. Turnaround of two days from instruction to completion and carrying out cross office due diligence. The transaction was reported by Nasdaq, Bloomberg and Reuters
  • on the acquisition of distribution centres for a logistics company and sale of a city shopping centre following the letting of units to an anchor tenant
  • landowners on Option Agreements relating to infrastructure for Hinkley Point C nuclear power station
  • on the acquisition and finance of town centre office blocks for conversion to residential accommodation and advising on exit plan strategy.
