Eldwin is a Patent Attorney in Womble Bond Dickinson’s Houston office with more than 10 years of experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications before the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Eldwin’s technical background allows him to fully understand complex technologies and effectively communicate with in-house counsel, inventors, and patent examiners, ultimately resulting in greater protection for his clients’ inventions.

Eldwin’s practice involves all aspects of services related to patents, including freedom-to-operate and patentability opinions, patent drafting, domestic and foreign patent prosecution, management of patent portfolios, coordinating IP strategies and general client counseling. He has helped clients of all sizes develop strong patent portfolios for protecting their intellectual property rights. In particular, Eldwin has extensive experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the fields of 3GPP/5G communications, consumer electronics, fiber optics, financial services, web3 services, automotives, augmented reality, medical/healthcare devices and services, semiconductors, computer networking, Software as a Service (SaaS), and business planning/data science. 

Eldwin has also worked in academia as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Birck Nanotechnology Center at Purdue Discovery Park. His research at Purdue focused on utilizing Bio Atomic Force Microscopes (Bio-AFMs) to develop nano-level force measurement techniques to be adapted for cancer detection. Eldwin has also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Purdue where he assisted with teaching freshman to junior level AC/DC power electronic courses.

  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications relating to windshield wiper, vehicle sensors, and automated driving systems for an international automotive supplier.
  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications relating to banking systems and application of artificial intelligence to said banking systems for a major U.S. bank.
  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications relating to HVAC systems for two different internationally-known HVAC companies.
  • Prepare invalidity and non-infringement opinions for clients in the medical device industry that were used by the clients to negotiate favorable licensing deals with competitors.
  • Provide technical support for Inter Partes Review (IPR) proceedings in the electronics and hardware circuit technical space that resulted in multiple denial of institution results for our clients.
  • Perform due diligence reviews of patent portfolios in connection with acquisition transactions for electronics consumer product companie
