Carissa focuses her practice on patent prosecution and litigation. She counsels clients on all aspects of intellectual property protection including patent procurement, patent portfolio management, and patent portfolio strategy in highly competitive industries. She works with technical teams to carve out space in challenging patent landscapes to deliver substantial value to the client. Carissa has worked with a variety of clients in various industries including renewable energy, oil and gas, semiconductor, specialty chemicals and materials, pharmaceutical, medical devices and healthcare, foodtech, animal nutrition, personal care, consumer products, computer software and others.
She leverages her extensive engineering background in risk management, project management, process design, and process simulation to help clients meet their business objectives at every stage of product development. A chemical engineer by education, she began her career at Eli Lilly and Company, BP, and BHP Billiton. While in law school, Carissa served as a legal intern at Baxter International, Inc. and as a judicial intern to the Honorable Tanya Walton Pratt of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.
