Ben is a solicitor with over three years PQE in commercial and competition law. He has supported clients in the technology, manufacturing, digital, mobility, defence, aviation and consumer sectors on all aspects of commercial contracts. He has supported clients on competition law compliance, CMA investigations, competition law litigation and sustainability matters. Ben is focused on delivering pragmatic solutions and continuous development.
Outside of work, he is a Non-executive Director of Generator, the North's leading music and development agency. Ben has supported Generator at a board level (since January 2025) on its strategic direction, including the Mercury Prize, Northern Music Export Office and other major projects.
Experience
Examples of experience include:
- Mobility Client - supported an international mobility client on compliance matters and mitigation strategies to support its next phase of growth (including green collaborations, the DMCCA and procurement risks)
- Aviation Client - support on competition litigation in respect of an abuse of dominance by an airport
- Engineering Client - supported the client on negotiations with an European naval force for the supply of naval ships; and on a sustainable aviation fuel project with an international aerospace firm
- Technology Client - advised and negotiated a grant funding agreement with TVCA to set up a new innovative funding programme for tech businesses in Teesside
- Technology Client - seconded to a B2B technology provider for 9 months, supporting the C-Suite and Legal team on all commercial contracting matters, strategic contracting, ad-hoc competition law advice
- National housebuilder (plc) - preparation and negotiation of a strategic nutrient neutrality contract to unlock development in Cumbria.
