International law firm Womble Bond Dickinson (WBD) has strengthened its financial services regulation team with the appointment of partner Michael Lewis, who joins the firm's London office.

With over 25 years' experience in financial services regulation, Michael has particular expertise in regulatory capital, client assets, conduct of business regulation and authorisations. He advises on new business and product launches, the application of financial services regulation, FCA rules and the regulatory aspects of acquisitions and disposals in the financial sector. He provides specialist advice to banks, investment managers, stock brokers, investment platforms and corporate finance firms.

Michael was seconded to HM Treasury as a policy adviser to Ministers on the Regulated Activities Order and other statutory instruments under the Financial Services and Markets Act. He has also been involved in a number of sector committees commenting on draft legislation in the financial services sector.

Michael joins after six years at Osborne Clark having also previously worked at Norton Rose, Linklaters, Simmons & Simmons and Pinsent Masons.
