A charity turning lives around using food as a way to breakdown barriers has been able to get their message out to a wider audience following a donation from international law firm Womble Bond Dickinson (WBD).

The firm donated £12,000 worth of advertising across a pair of advans in central London to the Beyond Food Foundation, which works to support individuals in gaining confidence and essential life skills alongside career opportunities and prospects of future employment.

With a particular focus on those whose lives have unravelled, such as people leaving prison, young people excluded from mainstream education, impacted by poor mental health or overcoming addiction or toxic relationships, the charity has supported more than 2,500 people through its FreshLife programme.

The charity, which has its Brigade Bar+Kitchen restaurant in London Bridge and is the firm's official London charity partner, was able to direct the advertising to the two locations where it will make the most immediate impact – outside the London Bridge station and along the River Thames embankment.

Claire Kistner, partner and head of WBD's community engagement in its London office, said:

"Beyond Food are a group which does such vital work supporting and bringing real change to those who may need that helping hand in their lives and we are proud to be able to support them as our office charity partner in London.

"So when this opportunity arose it was an absolute no-brainer to provide them with additional ad space which will help amplify their core mission and get the valuable and important work they do in front of as many extra people as possible, and we're glad we we're able to support in that manner."

Simon Boyle, CEO and founder of Beyond Food Foundation said:

"It is great to have partners such as WBD that understand the importance of reaching and supporting those who have faced difficulties such as homelessness, addiction, or imprisonment and the transformational power that food can bring to their circumstances.

"We are grateful that thanks in part to this incredibly generous donation, we have been able to reach a wider audience and highlight the importance that bringing purpose and compassion to the table can make on someone's life."

The firm's support of Beyond Food is part of WBD’s wider responsible business strategy, which aims to make a positive impact on the communities, environment and people it works with. Please read WBD's Responsible Business report for more information on how the firm is tackling this.
