Tess qualified as a solicitor in 2025 into the Charities team at Womble Bond Dickinson, having worked in the team during her solicitor training. She has worked alongside experienced members of the team on matters of governance, contractual arrangements, policies and procedures, and Charity law compliance. She is also familiar with Charity Commission processes, and has worked on charity registrations, mergers and incorporations.
Experience
Tess' experience includes:
- Applying to the Charity Commission for consent to use charitable permanent endowment funds to meet liabilities
- Applying to register a charity and incorporating the charity as a company, including preparing the governing documents for the same
- Managing a data site to collect relevant governance documents and procedures and enabling live amendments to the same
- Reviewing and amending a charity's governing document and objects to reflect the charity's change of direction in its charitable purposes and activities
- Drafting data protection and privacy policies for a grant making charity's website
- Drafting Terms of Reference for new board committees in a charity membership organisation.
