Simon is a professional indemnity specialist, with experience in defending professional negligence claims on behalf of solicitors, barristers, accountants, auditors, insurance brokers and IFAs. He also advises on coverage disputes and provides robust, commercial advice.

Simon qualified as a solicitor in 2017 and has extensive experience in the professional indemnity market, including a secondment at a major insurer. He also has experience with complex commercial disputes for global corporations and SMEs. He is experienced in all aspects of litigation and he regularly uses alternative methods of dispute resolution, helping clients resolve matters efficiently and cost-effectively.

Simon is a member of Womble Bond Dickinson's LGBTQ+ network (WBD Pride) and is a mentor with the London Young Lawyers Group, which connects law students, paralegals and trainees with solicitors.

  • Defending a top firm of accountants in a £3.5m claim concerning the alleged failure to identify a large fraud while auditing a travel company
  • Defending Insurers in a multi-million pound coverage dispute involving over 100 claimants, which had complex coverage issues around notification and the limit of indemnity
  • Defending a firm of solicitors in a £84m claim for lost litigation regarding a claim for fraudulent representation against a large bank
  • Defending a firm of accountants in a £15m claim brought by shareholders of a company alleging various accounting errors
  • Advising first excess layer insurers as to the policy response in respect of matters notified to insurers by a firm of solicitors. This involved coverage analysis of insurers’ rejection of a notification and two subsequent claims
  • Successfully defended a firm of solicitors for breach of undertakings which were given to its client’s lender
  • Defending a corporate director in a £15m claim concerning allegations of breaches of fiduciary duties and/or wrongful trading
  • Defending an IFA following decisions made by the Financial Ombudsman on the mis-selling of SIPPs
  • Defending a firm of accountants in a claim brought by an ex-client alleging various accounting errors involving complex and technical tax issues
  • Successfully defended a firm of solicitors in a claim by various disappointed beneficiaries, alleging a will was negligently drafted regarding a possible life interest trust
  • Defending a firm of accountants in a claim for alleged negligent tax advice, which led to the Claimant being charged with intent to defraud HMRC
  • Successfully defended an auditor, which faced a claim by an individual who had sold shares in the auditor’s client. It was alleged the auditor negligently miscalculated the client’s profit in a report, impacting consideration
  • Assisted in successfully striking out a £10m claim brought against a barrister for alleged negligent advice and representation at trial.
