John advises on a range of matters in connection with real property and commercial leasehold disputes.

John deals with drafting and advising on the service of break notices and other property notices, advising on interpretation of property contracts (including leases and deeds), service charge claims, dilapidations, rights to light as well as easements and covenants.

John also has experience in acting for telecommunications providers and property management companies.

  • Acting for a large commercial property owner advising on the day to day management of its extensive portfolio
  • Advising a commercial tenant following a landlord's opposition to the grant of a new tenancy (opposed on Grounds (d) & (f) and a concurrent interim dilapidations dispute
  • Advising a telecommunications operator on the renewal of their Code Agreements under both the Landlord & Tenant Act 1954, as well as under the new Electronic Communications Code
  • Acting for a property management company, successfully opposing an application to the FTT to acquire the management functions of a large residential development
  • Acting for a large housing association in relation to a service charge reasonableness claim. Successfully able to reach a settlement without the need for a determination from the FTT.
