A partner in the firm’s Consumer Financial Services team, Jason advises banks, finance companies, online lenders, and automotive industry participants on regulatory compliance and business issues, with a focus on auto and powersports finance and leasing products.
His practice spans the lifecycle of an auto finance or leasing transaction, from marketing and origination, to servicing and collections, to repossession and remarketing. He regularly works with clients on complex, multistate compliance issues, including the rollout of national marketing and retailer incentive strategies, the preparation of proprietary retail installment contracts, leases, and retailer agreements, and matters of first impression arising from new products and business models within evolving regulatory frameworks. Jason has also worked with finance company clients to develop dealer floorplan lending programs. His work frequently involves state licensing, the interplay between consumer finance and dealer franchise laws, and the regulatory supervision of auto finance activities.
Prior to private practice, Jason served for five years as corporate counsel in the BMW Group Legal Department, supporting BMW Financial Services. In that role, he worked on mobility and subscription services and alternative leasing and financing programs, gaining firsthand insight into how regulatory and licensing considerations affect product development and business strategy. He was also previously a consumer finance litigator, and understands the impact that consumer litigation can have on those business strategies.
Jason focuses on providing practical, actionable advice to captive and independent auto and powersports finance companies and other financial services clients to move efficiently from their current position to their business objectives. He works with clients to assess legal risk and support informed decision-making that aligns regulatory requirements with commercial goals.
