DENVER (February 23, 2024) – Womble Bond Dickinson today announced that Wayne Chancellor has joined the Firm’s newly opened Denver office. Chancellor brings significant experience providing legal counsel and business guidance to national and international clients operating in the energy and natural resources sector, including two decades as in-house counsel for AngloGold Ashanti North America (AGANA), one of the world’s largest gold mining companies by market capitalization. This addition reflects Womble’s continued growth in Denver and its commitment to providing mining and natural resources clients with the legal services needed to meet their business needs in a highly regulated industry.
Chancellor advises clients on a wide range of legal and business matters, including corporate governance, risk identification and mitigation, regulatory compliance, mergers and acquisitions, and intellectual property. At AGANA, he most recently served as vice president of community, regulatory affairs, and legal strategy. In that role, Chancellor interfaced with stakeholders, government agencies, and legislative leaders to further the company’s mining projects and was responsible for developing and executing strategies pertaining to regulatory compliance, government affairs, community relations, ESG, land acquisition and sales, water rights, and project permitting.
“Wayne’s background builds on the domestic and international capabilities of our Energy and Natural Resources Sector, notably the sophisticated legal support we offer operators, investors, and service providers working in the mining industry,” said Denver Office Managing Partner Scot Anderson. “His broad but deep in-house experience will add meaningful value to our clients throughout the business sector.”
