Womble Bond Dickinson Partner Ana Maria Gutiérrez has been appointed the new Leader of the firm’s Environmental Team.

She succeeds Brad De Vore, who will continue to serve as a go-to lawyer for high-stakes environmental litigation and toxic torts.

Gutiérrez joined the firm in Sept. 2023, when we opened in Denver, and was instrumental in Womble’s successful launch of that office.

Her practice involves guiding companies in environmental compliance programs, ecological initiatives, and transactional due diligence concerning a variety of environmental issues. These issues encompass areas regulated by the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, the Endangered Species Act, the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration regulations, as well as other federal environmental statutes and regulations.

She is a Chambers USA-ranked attorney in Energy and Natural Resources as well as an Advisory Board Member of the Colorado Oil and Gas Association. She has also held a trustee position for the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation for half a decade.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Gutiérrez is a civic leader in Colorado, particularly in advocating for diversity. She is actively involved with the Colorado Pledge to Diversity program, a non-profit organization involving parties across the Colorado legal community that are committed to diversity and inclusiveness in the workplace. She recently completed a term as Co-President of Colorado Pledge to Diversity and was named a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Champion by the Denver Business Journal in 2023.

The Denver Business Journal also recently named Gutiérrez one of Denver’s 40 Under 40 honorees for 2024.
