Womble UK/U.S. Attorneys Join Enterprise Mobility for “Himalayan Balsam Bashing” Service Day
Jul 21 2026
A joint transatlantic community service effort between Womble Bond Dickinson client Enterprise Mobility and Womble’s UK and U.S. legal teams worked together to assist the local community with an ecological concern.
On June 23, the combined team spent the day pulling up Himalayan balsam from riverbanks in the Egham, UK region, where Enterprise Mobility’s European head office is located. Himalayan balsam is an invasive plant species, and the team members pulled up these weeds before they set seed and spread further. “Himalayan balsam bashing” helps protect native flora and prevent erosion, making the local ecosystem healthier.
The combined teams worked through high temperatures at a woodland site along the banks of the River Bourne, an area managed by The Cabrera Trust and Runnymede Borough Council. The site is home to diverse wildlife, with over 250 plant species and 57 types of birds recorded.
Community involvement and service is core to the values of both Enterprise Mobility and Womble Bond Dickinson.
The team included Womble UK attorneys Luke Andruszewski, Paula Bartlett, Ashley Borthwick, Emma Cunningham-Burley, Dan Fawcett, Jenny Gibbs, Jessica James, Rachel Jones, Andrew Kimble, Sian Phillips, Cole Stacey, and Womble UK Managing Partner, Paul Stewart. Womble U.S. attorneys and members of the Womble US Governing Board, Chris Jones and Patrick Strubbe also took part in the Himalayan balsam bashing.
From Enterprise Mobility, volunteers included Mike Andrew, Jeff Cowan, Nadim Kazi, Jay Golder, Sarah Payne, Debbie Sluys, Ollie Morgan, Sam Constance, Katrin Harder, Candice Turner, James Coleman, Ana Guerrero, and Ellie Mason.
“One of Enterprise Mobility’s founding values is, ‘Strengthening our communities one neighborhood at a time,’ and this day of service is just one example of that,” said Jay Golder, Vice President of European Legal. “We enjoyed volunteering with Womble Bond Dickinson to help improve the community where we live and work.”
