Womble Bond Dickinson Attorneys Participate in the African Legal Support Facility’s Webinar on International Arbitration Involving States and State-Owned Entities

Womble Bond Dickinson (WBD) attorneys recently participated in an African Legal Support Facility (ALSF) webinar, “State Defenses in International Arbitration: Recent Developments and Perspectives,” which featured members of the firm’s U.S. and UK international arbitration teams.

UK partners Colin Graham and Adrian Jones (London) and US partners Alexandre de Gramont and David Attanasio (Washington, DC) represented WBD on the panel, which was moderated by ALSF Senior Counsel Manuela Dieng. Drawing on their extensive experience representing both sides in international arbitration involving States and State-owned entities—as well as in African disputes and transactions generally—the WBD partners discussed key issues and defenses raised in these cases, reviewed recent developments ranging from corruption to environmental protection, and addressed best practices for arbitration agreements in international contracts and treaties.
