Womble Bond Dickinson will host the Lex Mundi Bank Finance and Regulatory Committee North America Meeting, taking place October 30 in Charlotte, N.C.

A number of Womble attorneys will take part in the event, which will be attended by financial services attorneys from across North America:

  • Chair and CEO-Elect Merrick Benn will offer opening remarks.
  • Art Howson will moderate a Renewable Energy panel discussion. In this conversation, industry insiders will assess the impact of investment incentives on renewable energy finance in the US and a look ahead at the outlook for the renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure finance sector. Howson will be joined by Max Vernier, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Virentis Advisors, and Tanner Martin, Vice President for Renewable Energy Financing at Ameris Bank.
  • Howard Herndon will take part in a panel discussion titled, “Embracing the use of AI in AML and KYC”. The speakers will delve into the cutting-edge applications of artificial intelligence in the detection and prevention of trade-based money laundering (TBML), a complex and pervasive form of financial crime. The Bates Group CEO Benjamin Pappas will join Herndon in the discussion.

Other sessions will include “Digital Asset Innovation in the Financial Sector,” presented by Steptoe’s Alan Cohn. The Lex Mundi Bank Finance and Regulatory Committee North America Meeting also will feature a keynote address on “The State of US Financial Markets” by Wells Fargo Economist Nicole Cervi.
