The Womble Bond Dickinson combination has received plenty of media attention. Most recently, Legal Week discussed the combined firm, what it means for clients and where Womble Bond Dickinson is headed with Jonathan Blair and Betty Temple, the Co-Chairs of the new firm.

On November 1, Womble Carlyle will combine with leading UK firm Bond Dickinson to create Womble Bond Dickinson, a new breed of transatlantic law firm with more than 1,000 lawyers in 24 offices.

Temple said the combination represents a chance to grow even stronger. For example, intellectual property is a key service area in the US, and Blair said the goal is to leverage that strength to grow the UK IP practice. Likewise, Womble Bond Dickinson will have a strong UK energy practice, and firm leaders hope that will help grow the firm’s energy practice in the US.

“We are working on building practices that will help each other,” Temple said. “It is an opportunity for us to build out teams in key sectors.”

In addition, Blair and Temple discussed new leadership roles for the firm’s 11 sectors.
