Jon Mize has been appointed the firm’s new Triangle Office Managing Partner, effective April 1. In this role, he will lead the firm’s Raleigh and Research Triangle Park, N.C. offices. Combined, these two offices are home to more than 140 Womble attorneys and staff.
Mize succeeds current Triangle Office Managing Partner Beth Tyner Jones, whose term is expiring. Jones will continue to focus on her employment and education law practice.
As a Partner on the firm’s Public Finance team, Mize has helped bring some of the Southeast’s biggest and most crucial public infrastructure, healthcare, and education projects of recent years to life. He is an experienced public finance lawyer who guides his clients through a broad range of transactions as bond counsel, underwriter’s counsel, bank counsel and borrower’s counsel. Mize has spent his entire two-decade legal career with Womble, joining the firm’s Raleigh office after graduating from the University of North Carolina and the University of Tennessee College of Law.
He also volunteers his time for numerous professional and civic organizations, including the National Association of Bond Lawyers (NABL), the Government and Public Sector Section of the North Carolina Bar Association, and the North Carolina Government Finance Officers Association (NCGFOA). In addition, Mize serves on the Board of Directors of the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina and as an Assistant Scoutmaster with the Boys Scouts of America.
“I am honored to be selected to lead our Raleigh and RTP offices,” Mize said. “The Triangle continues to grow rapidly, and we have grown with the region. I look forward to helping the outstanding attorneys and staff in our Triangle offices provide the highest level of service to our clients.”

“We are pleased that Jon has agreed to lead our Triangle offices. He is a long-time member of the Womble family, and we know he will do an outstanding job! I also want to thank Beth for all she’s done for the firm—and all she continues to do. She already had the challenging assignment of serving as Raleigh OMP when she agreed to add RTP to her already full plate. Beth is an architect of our Education and School Law Team, which she leads, and she brings that same can-do spirit to a number of community volunteer projects."
